Book Design

I designed this Open Educational Resource (OER) for the first semester of an Elementary Portuguese course. It follows another OER text, Bate-Papo, authored by Eduardo Viana da Silva. I encourage you to consult that textbook directly to see the creators of this content. I have enhanced the Bate-Papo textbook with mine and other materials.

Bate-Papo

Bate-Papo contains eight units (“Unidades”), divided into parts A and B. For this first-semester textbook, I cloned the first four units. Although I have retained most of the material in these units, I have made modifications and deletions. I owe a debt of gratitude to the original authors and contributors.

Suplementos

After each part, I created a Suplemento. I have designed some original content in these sections, mainly through H5P exercises. Some grammar sections are Portuguese adaptations of Introductory Spanish I from Lumen Learning. Other grammar explanations are my own creations. Additionally, I have embedded several YouTube videos that enhance grammar topics.

Attributions

Unidades 1 A, 1 B, 2 A, 2 B, 3, A, 3 B, 4 A, and 4 B all are modified versions of those same Unidades in Bate-Papo. Author: Eduardo Viana da Silva. License: CC by Attribution.

I have listed attributions to the Suplemento sections where appropriate.
